Design
The HarvestBuild team helps to develop a custom design for your natural building project based on the level of involvement you choose for us. We can assume responsibility for the entire project, or just the natural building portion of it. Drawings can range from simple sketches to stamped construction documents. Design fees are $60/hour. Additional design fees for team architects or engineers may also apply.
Consultation
We work with you and your network of professionals, providing guidance for the natural building portion of your project. We’re happy to provide site assessments, review design drawings, offer planning and scheduling advice, assist with acquisition of materials, etc. Consultation fees are $60/hour plus expenses* (1-hour minimum).
Construction
We rely on a network of colleagues to accomplish our construction services. For larger projects we work with Fox's Natural Building Company, natural building subcontractors experienced with our techniques that use mechanical equipment and a hired crew. Through our membership in the Green Contractors of Greater Cleveland, we also tap into a growing list of green tradespeople, including electricians, plumbers, cabinet makers, etc. By working with us on past projects, these tradespeople are familiar with how their products/services integrate with our natural building systems.
Just as with design services, the construction services that our team provides are based on the level of involvement you choose for us. We can coordinate construction activities for the entire project, or just the natural building portion of it. Responsibilities can range from stacking bales or applying plasters, to full general contractor services. Labor fees are $40/hour plus expenses*. Additional labor fees for team subcontractors or green tradespeople, as well as equipment rental fees, may also apply.
Informal Workshops (family/friends/volunteers)
We assist in the natural building portion of your project by instructing your family/friends/volunteers in the proper natural building techniques, while also directing and participating in the construction process. Because participants are not paying a fee, we focus on construction rather than formal education. One instructor works well with a group of 10 or less. We recommend two instructors for larger groups. Instruction fees for a single instructor are $60/hour plus expenses*; fees for two instructors are $50/hour each plus expenses*. Additional design and/or consultation fees prior to the workshop may also apply.
Formal Workshops (paying participants)
If interested in hosting a formal natural building workshop for paying participants, we can structure our typical weekend workshop specifically for your project. Because participants are paying a fee, educating the attendees is the focus of this formal event. All consultation fees prior to the workshop are included. Instruction fees are based on the length of the workshop and number of paid participants: $100/day per attendee (minimum $1,000/day), plus expenses*.
