Kruggel Residence

Nashville, Indiana

This one-and-a-half-story straw-bale house was designed by HarvestBuild, and built by the homeowners in conjunction with a local general contractor. HarvestBuild also led a weekend straw-bale raising and plaster work session. The home features a reclaimed timber frame, our baling-on-the-edge exterior straw-bale wall system, and our lath-n-stuff straw/clay wall system in the walk-out basement. Earth and lime plasters were used throughout.

Testimonial

"We wouldn't be living in our dream home if it weren't for Mark's strong commitment to our project. We have been completely satisfied with all the services provided to us. Mark has been available, thorough, and precise in addressing every question we had in developing plans, overseeing construction, and following up after the construction process. He has been extremely timely with all forms of correspondence, knowledgeable during all phases of planning and construction, and overall, a priceless resource. Mark has been present during every step of the way whether via phone conversations, e-mail, or best of all in person. His communication skills with us and the builders are remarkable, and he readily appreciated and contributed greatly to our design interests. Change ideas were addressed with interest and enthusiasm; troubleshooting was handled efficiently and effectively. In reflection, we experienced no real problems with our project because Mark either had a quick answer when we needed one or a clear and practical process for addressing questions."
