EcoVillage Cleveland Greenhouse/Tool Shed

Cleveland, Ohio

This small straw-bale and straw/clay building serves as both a greenhouse and tool shed in an urban community garden. HarvestBuild designed the building in collaboration with Fox's Natural Building Company, and assisted with much of the construction. The greenhouse/tool shed features a small timber frame, our baling-on-the-edge straw-bale wall system, our lath-n-stuff straw/clay wall system, cob sculptural elements, and earth and lime plasters.

Testimonial

"As the project manager for the national demonstration project, EcoVillage Cleveland, I have had the pleasure and honor of working with a truly knowledgeable, reasonable, and committed natural building expert, Mark Hoberecht. Mark's involvement, from the design and implementation of our community greenhouse/tool shed to his participation as an EcoVillage Technical Advisory Committee member, showcases his community building commitment. Mark does whatever it takes to get the job done without sacrificing additional resources. The greenhouse/tool shed is a focal point of our community garden, and stands as a piece of art in our diverse, urban EcoVillage neighborhood."
